i don't think so, in fact if you have a lone fish they tend to inter act with the owner more.

I agree, the only craving they might experience is the chemical motivation to mate which is triggered by the presense of a prospective partner, no partner no chemical triggers.

Ah if human needs were so simple.

an Oscars brain is probably not much bigger than a pinhead. Like any other creature of fish exist to carry on their species. Keeping them in an unnatural environment in my opinion is going to totally disrupt the way they may normally act. As for if they get lonely, I don't believe so, I don't think fish have evolved enough to actually posses these type of feelings or emotions.

I've seen a big change in behaviour after my red's tankmate died.
He didn't seem like his old self for quite some time.
He sure seemed lonely.
Until i bought him a Vieja as a friend.
My oscar was not too gratefull for the Vieja almost killed him.
But after i rehomed the Vieja my Oscar immidiatelly took over the whole territory.
He didn't behave as if he was lonely that time.
But imo that's only a response to a change in environment, and there are no real feelings involved.
Just instict.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

i think its more of a case of whethr or not particular fish can stand to have another fish in its presence or not...

i think alot of ppl put humans emotions on2 animals, i.e a fish looking sad...i.m.o they have basic instincts i.e fear etc their brains cant even begin to understand feelings there so small
