I've been seeing some weird behavior from my O's lately, I now have 3, a lemon albino 5-6 inches, and 2 blueberry babies and the more dominate baby, or should I say brave, would pick on my albino right back when he'd pick on him, but now I've seen him just float when he'd get bumped or when he thought he might, like he was playing dead almost and I still swear thats what he's doing so my albino will leave him alone. I was just curious to know if this is common or my fish are just weird.

Odd behavior is quite common in Oscars but I hate too say it, there is no such thing as a blueberry oscar. These fish are dyed. If you haven't had them for too long a time I would return them to your LFS and let them know your not happy. Dying fish is a terrible practice done only in the name of greed. How They Make A Blueberry Oscar -

- An albino oscar is injected with a the desired color.
- An oscar is put in a tank of different acids used to disolve its slime coat then put into another tank with the disired die giving the fish its coloration.

This is horrible and cruel and on top of that most 'Bluebery-Oscars" have a life span of 4-6 months due to this treatment. You have to remember oscars live upwards of 10 years! Also they don't have the typical oscar appitite. If they get an illness they will most likely die even if a normal oscar would have been able to get over it. If I was you I would return them and let your LFS know what a horrible thing they are doing.

i agree with jeimanfish return them and let the lfs owner know what has been done to these O's so he can stop supporting these guys tha are so cruel 2 animals.

hmm well damn it I thought that mine were fine and that was their real color. So they must have taken albino tigers for these guys. Hmmmm I really don't think they'll let me take them back, espically for money, unless they happen to die RIGHT NOW, by them selves. Man, this really sucks, I was all happy and thought I found some cool fish instead of all the boring colored ones. So they will die soon for sure?? No chance at survival? I always see these fish, not O's but they get tattooed, like literally tattooed and they're just regular fish, but they usually live for quite awhile with all that going on. Man, someone tall me I have some hope!

To be completely honest even if the do live a longer then expected life in 2-3 months their colors will completely fade and depending how they were died they will most likely have leisions on their bodies. You just have to look for some really pretty ones like these. - - Neither of them were died and they are very different looking oscars. There are a lot of color varients available. I would have been extremely excited too and I am sorry that you had to find out but sooner or later you would have realized something was wrong with them. Can you post a photo I would like to see what one of them looks like?

I'm going to try to find a camera for pictures, mine broke, but I'm going to see about taking them back tomarrow if I can't find a camera to use. It sucks because all we ever have around here are tigers, lemons, all black ones, and pitiful looking albino tigers, and they are all pretty boring looking to me, I really like that red one in the picture you posted, but no one around here sells anything like that. I wish the blue would just fade out and they live, they were definatly albino tigers and they both have tons of nice red stripes that couldn't possibly have been put on them....? But thanks everyone for leting me know, I'll keep updating when I figure things out.

Post a pic and people on here will be able to tell you if they are dyed or not

If they are dyed and the shop wont take them back and give you your money back then all you can do is look after them well and hope they live long and happy lives

These aren't my fish, I couldn't find a camera and I feel like I have to take them back tomarrow, and obviously I couldn't have that many but this is what they look like, mine are just a little more blue with a lot of red stripes, but thats it basiclly.

When they dye oscars they take fish like in the pic you posted and dye them blue (or other colours). Good on you for taking them back and good luck on getting a refund. The more people refuse to have these fish the less likely shops are to stock them. I will not buy anything from a shop that sells dyed or tattooed fish. Only one shop round my way (out of 6) sold some tattooed fish a few months back. I will not buy anything from that shop
