in my 220 gallon

i have a few smaller colorful fish that came with the tank eg, clown loaches, blue peacocks, and electric yellows. if there were sufficient hiding spaces that are too small for the oscars to get into and big enough for the smaller fish to hide in, do you think i could put the oscars into the tank as well oscars are about 9 inches.

just want some advice,

if i cant do this i'll just put the oscars into the 220gal

and then i'll put the colorful fish into my old 125 gal.

advice appreciated,

Timmo

Haha. Well, I did the same thing when I first got my O, and all the smaller things, (even though they had sufficiant hiding spaces) all were eaten within a few weeks!
I think it might be best to put most of your smaller ones in the 120 and the O in the other.
Generally Oscars eat anything they can get into their mouths, and at 9 inch, that's almost anything!

Its hard to fly like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys

General rule if it can fit in an oscars mouth they will try to eat it. The exception to this is that sometimes if they are bought up with a fish and the oscar has just grown faster it may and i mean may leave it alone.

In your case if the fish will fit in the oscars mouth dont mix them or you will find some fish disappearing. Clown loach have barbs just below their eyes(you cant see them unless they stick them out) which they will stick out if an oscar tries to eat them, these may damage your oscar

Also it is a bit cruel to put a smaller fish that may be eaten in with an oscar, it will not be happy having to avoid being eaten all the time

Separate the fish until they are big enough not to be eaten. Dont know what size blue peacocks and electric yellows get but clown loach will get big enough, but they grow slow so it may take a while(a few years if they are very small)
I can't get no sleep
