For the past 2 days my TO has been spinning in circles and turning crazy colors. After a few spins if my JD swims by my TO tries to get him. I was wondering maybe my fish is in heat or something.

I take it all the other fish are okay? How old is the Oscar? You might want to check your water conditions as toxins can often make fish do weird things.

However, I am sure that fish behave differently in captivity than they would in the wild, after all, they can't really go very far when they're stuck inside a small tank.

my water is good i have a aqua tech 30-60 and a eheim ecco 80gal for a 55gl. Ph 7.5 Nitrites 0 ammonia 0 nitrates 10, all is good and steady. my ph is alittle higher than my old tank which held a 6.5 but the same water source.

my TO is about 13 months and my JD is about 9. My JD is crafty and gets away when my TO gets moody but for the most part they get along.

Everything seems to be okay in your tanks are ready having got any suggestions. If your fish is eating okay then I really don't think there can be too much wrong

Do you know how old the Oscars is? I wouldn't have thought it was got anything to do with breeding. I have had loads of oscars and they don't start losing it when they become sexually mature. If you had to oscars that had paired up and they may well acted very strange and behave erratically when they bred, but an Oscar on its own, I don't think so. It would be interesting to to keep an eye on the fish and see what happens in the next week or two. Female oscars will lay eggs without a male person. I've never had this happen to me so I can't give you the benefit of my experience keeping one Oscar on its own, I've always had more than one.

I wanna say my TO is around 13 to 14 months now. I do notice when my JD gets next to my TO my TO shakes its tail. Does that mean anything?
