Hey, new poster here. Following the forum for quite a while, excellent site, great info.

Here's my issue:

I have two young oscars (2" albino tiger @ 3.5" tiger). Sunday after a water change the albino began sulking and has been ever since. He does not eat either. Now I did rearrange the tank a little which seems to have potentially upset the balance. A little history on the fish: I had the albino a couple of weeks prior to getting the regular tiger. Everything was fine prior to the rearranging of the tank. My question is, how can I figure out if the albino is still just upset about the arrangement or if maybe the larger tiger is bullying him. I have noticed some tail flickering displays between the two, but otherwise no other obvious signs of bullying.

Tank: 60gal. (cycling a 150gal right now)
Filter: Hydor Prime 30 (240gph)

Water parameters: Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-30ppm
PH-8.2 (stable)

Your water conditions seem okay. I really don't have any suggestions at the moment. Maybe give it a couple more days and see what happens.. Welcome to the site by the way

Thanks for the welcome.

I thought about removing 1 of the two temporarily and putting it in my 10gal. to see if there was any change in behavior, but I don't really want to risk stressing the albino any more than he already is and really don't want to stress the tiger either. What are your thoughts on this?

I will wait a couple more days either way.

Thanks

I agree with OFL, Wait him out... Try feeding Night crawler/earthworms. But I would wait and see.. He will more than likely just snap out of it... Are you sure there is no bullying going on?

Not any real obvious bullying. The tiger hangs out by him sometimes and once I noticed they were doin the whole tail shaking thing at each other.

Also, how do i go about feeding the little guy a worm he won't come up to eat, plus the tiger is a pig and won't let anything get to the bottom. You think maybe just try and hand feed him on the bottom?

You can try hand feeding it, may not work real well... The other option would be to divide the tank.. This way you can see if his behavior changes. If he goes back to normal then you know the tiger is pushing him around! Just an idea...

Thanks. I'll try to get a worm to him, otherwise I'll try the divider in a day or two.

My oscar would eat everything dropped in the tank and my Jack D would have to eat what ever cameout of his gills. I put a piece of wood in the middle of the tank to seperate them and it has made a big difference. my Jack D now eats from my hand which it didn't do for the first 9 months i had her. provide them cover to help keep them from stressing.
