this is the first time in keeping oscars, i have allaways had african ciclids blue dolphins are my favarite, but heard alot about oscars. so i want to have a go at keeping them. but my oscars are allways staying at the top looking for food if you come to the tank to look, or even take a photos, they think food is coming, ive tried taking a photo but cant as they just keep looking up for food everytime you look at them they just think food are you sure they are not just hoovers for their enviorement, because honestly i cant see them being very interative, they just want fooooooood, i really had more fun with my dolphin cichlids xxx

Smaller oscars are very enthousiastic , but given time they'll interact in a very cool way.
If i sit at one end of the tank, that is not the feedingspot, the fish will come over to the side where i am and start posing for the pics.
I indeed spent more time in handfeeding when i just got my oscar and getting my Oscar used to my hands in the water, then spending time trying to take pics...
My O's are both very calm now they're bigger.

Oscars are the sorts of fish to have if you want to interact and have a fish that almost appears to want to interact with you as well. However, they are not pretty fish that are going to make a tank look absolutely stunning with lots of colors, like African cichlids.

That is what the Oscars do, they like their food a once they get used to you feeding them they will automatically think there are going to be fed whenever you go near the tank, all Oscars do that, I suppose that is why a lot of people really love them

Mine are growing big and since i can feed every other day the O's are very sociabable and not constantly begging.
It seems they understand the "every other day feeding sceme" now.
They even interact with the kids, the dog and can get mad at things that surround their tank, as if they expand their territory outside the tank.
Just wait and see.

Mine was a ham before he died, always giving me the stink eye, and always willing to pose for a picture.
but he wasn't always that way, when I first got h/her it hid all the time until it was feeding time. it was frustrating
to say the least.

Man I miss that fish, who would have thought you could grow so fond of something that didn't fetch, or purr.
