They are oscars tho ...got to be ..they even have the fake eye spot on the tail.

I don't think its an oscar,just a ciclid.Usually ciclids resemble.Its scientific name isn't the same as oscar.

For example: There are ciclid that are completely identical to african ciclids(same type of body,same scale pattern and fins)but of different colors.They are not called african ciclids though they are alike...

the crassipinis is for lack of a better term a cousin of the oscar. they are classified in the astronotus genus but are a different subspecies. there habitat and food are pretty well the same as the oscar but as a general rule they do not grow as big. these fish are not common in the aquaria trade but there are a few out there. usually if you have a crassipinis you will have paid enough for it and will know that you have one.
