I am going to start up a new guppy aquarium so that later when my oscars are grown they get a wide variety of food..
Is that a good idea?
Is beedheart, frozen brine or frozen bloodworm good for oscar?
Can i give fruits like banana to my oscar when its grown?Coz i read that 60% of a wild oscar nutrition is composed of fruits,grains....40% of small fish...
You'll get attached to the Guppys before they are big enough to feed to your O's.
Takes a long time for them to grow, plus they're like M&M's to oscars.
Plus they have hardly any nutricional value.
I wouldn't go through the trouble, i got 2 tank packed with Guppies but i don't feed them to my fish anymore.
All the other options are good for a healthy diet, although bigger worms like mealworms or nightcrawlers will please your O's more.
And actually 60% of an Oscars food in the wild consists of bugs, larvae and other insects that fall from trees.
In addition to that they will eat anything that moves before their mouths.
Plus fruit is a very common food for them in the Amazon, for fruits fall into the water all the time.
You can try all different sorts of fruit.
Ask Nicki, she feeds the whole fruit section of the grocerystore to her O's.
Even complete watermelons!
