I use to have the fuzzy stuff. I think it is algae. I have a Pleco now so the fuzzy stuff is gone. Some one on here might know how to keep it gone with buying a poop making machine (AKA Pleco)!

and if it become too much, just use a nail or toothbrush that has not been used before.
Scrub the algae off, while keeping the hose close during a waterchange.

driftwood normally produces such kind of fungi materials... either under water
or when just lying around in damp place.... i believe it is not harmful to the
because during the time it become submerge in water, fishes love to chomp them all.
in the river banks, some of those things are being collected as dried mushroom.
