what is this black fuzzy stuff on my driftwood. algae? fungus? i think I might take it out....

i think its fungus, but sorry dont know how to treat it somebody here will xxxx

I use to have the fuzzy stuff. I think it is algae. I have a Pleco now so the fuzzy stuff is gone. Some one on here might know how to keep it gone with buying a poop making machine (AKA Pleco)!

LOL, yall r funny. I will keep pleco out of the tank, had tooooo much poo from the last one.

I took it out, as well as my PVC, hope RD acts better!

Its algae of some kind I wouldn't worry it looks more natural anyway

yeah i think its a form of an algae, but its better not to take a risk right

driftwood normally produces such kind of fungi materials... either under water
or when just lying around in damp place.... i believe it is not harmful to the
because during the time it become submerge in water, fishes love to chomp them all.
in the river banks, some of those things are being collected as dried mushroom.
