Just curious if/who cleans their air stones? Or is it just easier to replace? I'm wondering if you can boil them and re-use them?

Hey Britcher... I replace mine. The ones that I have aren't that expensive. I'm taking the easy way out I guess.

I hear ya. I prefer things easy too but I'm a cheap focker also. It wouldn't bother me to boil them down and clean em as opposed to having to just buy new ones and replace. I'm looking at some on eBay right now, 6 for $2.39 after shipping. They're not expensive. I'm just wondering "if" they could be cleaned.

i allways replaced them, but was wondering about boiling them too.
But i think it may result in cooked algae inside the airstones.
You'll have to try and see what happens.
I lately had one of my airstones come off the tubing, and the next day my pleco had cleaned it for me.
It worked better after i reattached the stone, than before the pleco did his job.
But replacing them will give you fresh, small bubbles, which i like.
and i only replace them once a year the most.

Air stones have lots of little holes in them that either get algae growing on them or clog up with waste, im not sure which. Either way they have a life span and as they are so cheap i just replace them
I can't get no sleep
