I'm getting Crystals new tank ready and purchased a plastic fake rock ornament made by "Top Fin". Made specifically for fish....non-toxic..etc. for the next few days the inside of the tank smelled like plastic which has mostly gone away but the water has a light "white" cloudiness to it. (no fish nin it yet as I plan to move the current filter, media etc. all at once. Should I be concerned???
Thanks,
Russ

Do you have a filter running on the new tank at the moment? have you cycled the new tank?

if you are hoping to move your old filter to the new tank just before you put the fish in then you don't need to cycle it,as your old filter will carry enough bacteria. but the water will still need to be conditioned with a water conditioner. its best to do this before you move the new old filter as the way in that water conditioners work is they stabilize the chlorine for a few days so the filter can break them down. if you have no filter running then even if you added conditioner at the time you filled the tank, they wouldn't have got broken down. I am not sure how long a conditioner stabilizes the chlorine for. so I would add extra conditioner just to make sure.

most water conditioners are fine to over treat but please check. the plastic rock will be fine and should not be an issue as its non toxic to fish. my guess its just stagnant water as you have no filter running.

I will be moving the old filter media/bacteria into the new filter, so no cycling issues. some additional info....I've had air stones running all along which was why I was a little concerned. Started the filter yesterday which just has some carbon as a precaution until I move the old filter media into the new tank. We have well water and no chlorine but I do have to make Ph adjustments as our water is about 5.0 out of the tap. The "new" water is also about 40% from my current tanks and 60% new water. Thanks for your help.

after moving all stuff to the new tank, just test the water...and if you got a
good perfect water parameters... you should not worry that much... the odor
will eventually become a fishy water odor...
