I had that led canopy. It's great, although I've heard on larger tanks it can be rather dim.
LED is the way to go IMO.

I had that LED canopy--it's great and I highly recommend it, although as the lights themselves are only in the middle section of the tank...I've heard it makes the corners rather dim in larger tanks.

Another issue is you can turn the day lights off, and only use the night lights...but you can't simply use the day lights without the nights being on too...which is kinda pointless b/c the night lights aren't powerful enough to be seen with the other ones on. I like to turn my blues on even with the daylights so it gives the tank a cool blue 'spotlighting effect' on my tree roots.

Still, you're using virtually no wattage, which saves a ton of electricity compared to flouro's and such, and no heat. The shimmering effect is way cool too. It's actually not expensive as buying just one led can run about 25 bucks, and the canopy has 9 so 150-170 bucks depending on where you get it isn't too bad.

LED is the way to go IMO. I'm willing to bet they'll all but replace everything else as the standard in aquarium lighting in the coming years.
