My dad gave me this filter for my 21st bday. it was sitting in his shed he bought it several years ago and never used it. it pumps 350gph and is good for up2 a 100gal tank. would this be okay to use for a 30gal tank?

Has anyone used or have this filter that maybe can tell me a little about it?

Marineland is a quality manufacturer and generally the magnums have been reviewed positively. The only real complaints I've heard about them is that occasionally the valve lock allows water to leak into the motorhead and this builds up and can cause leakage problems. It would work just fine for your 30 gallon and will work for your larger tank when you get it as well.

Just to err on the side of caution I would install it, transfer some media, and then wait about a week or 2 before removing the others if you were planning on doing so so you give it time to get established without removing all of the previous filter bacteria.
