so i finaly got my FX5 up and running after buying all the extra parts i was missing which included a new impeller. I mut say after all the hype of how powerfull this filter was i was a little dissapointed with the flow i was getting. To start with i had the multi directional output on the end of the hose but the removed it when it wasnt creating the current i hoped for.
I made a small video of the flow of my fx5 just so people here could check it out and let me know if it is working properly??? i just replaced the impeller so should be pumping as hard as it can, should i think about ordering a new motor????
I got this filter pretty cheap of ebay but all got was the canister and motor....i had to buy the pipes clips intake and out and replece the impeller, the money i've spent i could have almost brought one brand new!

Hmmm, I can't say I am liking that... Mine has more flow... What media do you have in it???

And on a side note, I use a 90 degree PVC elbow on my output so all the flow is going in one direction...

i would be getting a new motor or somthing
was it a store or a person you bought it off on ebay
i would be sending an email on ebay asking what was wrong prier to sale

benno- it was off a person, about 2 or 3 months ago and already had probs with the guy when the filter didnt have any piping ect when i was mentioned in the description so dont really want to have anything to do with him ever again....mototr are expensive hear in australia.

Niki- when i made the vid the only media the white sponge that it comes with...i was expecting double flow!

WOW, If there is no media in the baskets, you are going to have SERIOUS issues...

Are you sure there is no air in the system???

If there is no air in the system, (it should be almost NO sound if it is running right). Then I would say you better look at a new motor.

the only noise i can hear is water swriling round inside it which i thought might not be heard once the media is inside.

What is this part? it fits into the filter lid but every time i remove the lid it is not in place in the lid but is on one of the pipes inside the filter

ahhhk fair enuff yeh they r realy exspensive i am just gunna buy brand new for 450
but to get your issue delt with maybe look up oon google if anyone else has had this problem if not maybe a new motor is in need

so far i've spent
AUD$260 on the filter
and about AUD$150-200 on parts ordered from the states
the motor is alot cheaper if orded from the states but they have a diffrent voltage im pretty sure so it wont work in aust, the cheapest ive seen it for in aust is 180+ postage

it is not cheap maybe sell back on ebay for 350 and buy a brand new one ???

ya i got a fluval 305 and it has more flow than that.

i think it would be unfair to put it back on ebay because its nto working properly and i would be putting someone else in the position im in and i'll probe get bad feed back for selling a faulty item

true but it would be better then being stuck with a fx5 with no flow
but maybe yu could state that on ebay saying lack of flow cheap for 350
i geuss someone will buy that
