Hey Benno, my new tank is a sun sun..I haven't used a uv sterilizer but the lfs tried to sell me one and it sounded really good. I have an aqua one 1000 on Mum and Dad's tank..what sort of noise is it making? Mine was noisy initially because the bioballs are supposed to go in the bottom under the trays and they rattle. I now put them in tray 2 under the blue sponge and the ceramic media in tray one under the black sponge and filter wool. I also pull out the impeller for a really good rinse and use the pipe cleaner in it's little nook every time I clean it (monthly or 6 weekly). Or is yours noisy inside the pump head?

Hi Benno,
Another Aussie, G-Day mate. I live In Canberra, Dont hold that against me.LOL
I just joined up. I own a jebo 3126, 85g. Its the same sort of deal as the Aquaone with a drip filter incorporated into the lid. Find it pretty noisy but it does become a bit quieter after cleaning the impeler. I was thinking of adding a canister filter as well as oscars do have a reputation for being messy.

You know how I feel about obscure Chinese filter brands so I won't say it again. Look back to your thread about the UV sterilizer filter from eBay

I do believe you get what you pay for with filters, alot of them look very similar but the extra $$$ usually comes from the quality of the pump and general construction overall.

Sucks to be on apprentice wages but at least after you've done your time you should be able to earn some decent dineros! Anyone willing to loan you some money? early xmas present?

By the way my Eheim 2080 is whisper quiet I have to touch it just to know its on.

I suppose with any filter regardless of it's origin. It should last a decent while as long as you perform the required maintenence such as keeping the impellor free of crap and debris, look after the rubber gaskets and plastic etc.

Silicone spray is good for lubricating moving parts and prolonging their lifespan.
But DONT use vaso or petroleum jelly on rubber parts it will eat away at them.
