Are you sure it is not the brown algae that MY.. tank can accumulate?
When I do maintainance in my tank every week faithfully I use a small foam scrubby and give the glass and down the silicone plus just along and under the gravel a gentle rub and it all come up and disperses. I take the quartz rock and a couple of ornaments I have out and give it a scrub in 'TANK WATER' Then I gravel hoover the the entire tank. This keeps the water crystal clear and my Nats are sitting at 15-20 ppm.

I dont have driftwood, but i do happen to have four plants, and i have blue gravel that ive had for at least two years. And ive noticed over those two years the gravvel has bleached into the water (id asume) cause my gravvel in some places is going white lol.

the tank normally accumulate this slimy substance that if left un-scrub
for quite sometime will look like an algae or crap inside. sometimes it
copy the color of the food you normally drop-in.... jut scrub it from
time to time and the filtration will take care of it...

Re: "Poopy Water" 1 year, 8 months ago #114273

But i do scrub it? Im not sure what it is so your saying its the crap on the glass thats making it look like this? And its not actually the water?

have you ever touch the inner wall of your glass? if not, please do so with
your bare hand and you will be surprised the slimy substance that feels like
scales in the surface....

unless you are about to have an algae due to overfeeding....

It's not the plants. Try scrubbing the glass I guess but it's probably the water.

okay but im supposed to let the water settle for 24 hours i think and i dont think its the water ill try the glass, but is there any possible way its the plants?

Re: "Poopy Water" 1 year, 8 months ago #114365

If it's "brown" algae then your nirates are high-- You've probably got decomposing organic matter in your tank--again most likely from too much bioload, overfeeding, inadequate tank maintenance. Perhaps some plant matter but it's not plants that are causing this.

Do a water test.
