I was curious as to what water changing methods different ppl employ on this site. Does anyone have it automated? Does anyone have it where it is easy as pie?

Does anyone do it in a rather difficult or unorthodox way?

Just curious

I believe there are some automated water change systems on the market, but I think they are very expensive. There are probably more appropriate on salt water aquariums, rather than freshwater.

I have got a 300 gallons aquarium so obviously water changes involve at least 100 gallons of water each water change, not something you would want to carry out using a bucket.

I drain the water out using a hose, and then put it back in using a hose attached straight to to the tap/faucet. Been doing it like this for years, takes about an hour in all.

i could do (semi-)automated waterchanges, if i wanted to, except for one extra tube and permanent hose that i'd need to install, but... the gravel needs vacuuming every week too, so that idea is lost on my tank.
I do still have the automated valves on the tubes, but i do not have them attached to the electricity, nor do i have the computerized timers etc. that would be nescesary.

we had a thread with a completely automated wc system lately, but the installation had some fancy valves and some maximum/minimum level sensors, that were both pretty expensive.
and the tank they used it on was a fully planted tank, that indeed didn't need gravelvacuuming.

similar to OFL, I use a hose attached to a faucet/sink. At the end of the hose is a gravel vacuum - so I clean the gravel as I siphon the water out. Although there are several brands of siphons on the market, "Python" is one - and they have a good video on their site demonstrating how it works.

If I had to use buckets, I wouldn't have a big tank:)

on my 150g, i fill up a plastic 60g barrel, drop a power head and a heater and dechlor it, siphon the old water out and pump the new one in with a submersible pump. Its real easy for me to do that, just need to wait for the water temp to rise like the water in the tank, i usually leave it over night or when i go out somewhere then come back. once the water is ready it takes me like 30min. it could take me a lot less if i had a long 1'' hose or bigger to siphon the water faster, i plan on getting it

I syphon water into a 2-3 gallon bucket then walk to the bathroom, empty water in toliet after 5 or 6 trips i full it back up. Id like to get a really long extension hoze and somehow stick it in the sink. Dont have too much money right now though haha.

I use a similar process as Penn outlined above. A hose going out into the backyard and a hose going into the tank from the faucet.

sir OFL is it ok to put water directly to the tank comming from the faucet then put the medication that removes the chlorine on the water later. because i do mine i have to put into a few container and put the drops that remove the chlorine and store it for tree days beacuse i do 2 times a week water change then replace water from the tank the same amount i remove...

If you want to Penchang, you can add the dechlorinator, and then add the water... That is what I do... There is no need to store it for days!
