If you would like a stronger flow than that, or to have all the water flow in one direction, You can use a 90 degree elbow of PVC pipe instead of the duel output... That is what I have and you wouldn't believe the difference... Just a little tip...

Jeez, would that be ok for my 65 gallon?!? That seems like a hell of a lot of flow there for my small tank.

Flow wouldn't be a problem...but you have to ask yourself if you really need a FX5 for 65 gallon ....what are you currently running?

I dont really need it. But I do want it. I'm running a fluval 305 and emperor HOB on a 65 gallon right now. See, I've been toying with the idea of getting a 90 gallon for the oscar, and using the 65 gallon for something else. I haven't really decided what I want to use it for, so Ive been kinda shopping around MFK looking for ideas. The fx5 would give me a filter for the 90. I would just get a larger tank all together but I want 2 separate ones..one for the living room and one for the bedroom.

Yeah I get what you mean... I didn't really need one as I was running two 405s on a 100 gal...but then im upgrading my tank and that will need a FX5 or two

You can turn down the flow rate by closing the valves a little, but why bother? unless you have fish that don't like a strong current
