My new 75 gallon tank was delivered on Thursday! I was initially going to use a Rena XP3 with an AquaClear 70, but decided to just use the Rena by itself. Because of that, I pushed the new tank as close to the wall as the canister hoses would allow, essentially screwing me over when it comes to adding an AquaClear due to the size of the HOB. Will the single XP3 be enough filtration to handle the bio-load, or should I consider either draining the tank and moving it out more to allow for a HOB (pain in the butt), or adding a second canister filter (expensive >_<).

Bear in mind that, at the moment, my Oscar is only about 3". Still, I am trying to think ahead since my dream 180 gallon tank is still a good ways off at this time and I have to deal with what I have right *now*.

Thank you!

Rated at 350GPH, for up to 175 gallon tanks. Of course, the actual flow versus the rated flow can and usually is different, but those are the specs for what they're worth.

Cool, that's what I was planning to do down the line anyway. Maybe even an FX5

If the filter says it is rated for tanks up to 175g then you will be fine with it on a 75g. With oscars you need total filtration rated for a tank twice the size of your tank. In your case you need a filter rated for at least 150g. Adding an extra filter will mean you still have some filtration if one breaks down

You should be okay with that filter. I like using canisters in conjunction with HOBs. So adding an HOB when the Oscar gets bigger wouldn't hurt.

congratz on the new tank and filter! Post some pics and/or vids when you get a chance.
