I currently have a FX5 and a 405 running on my 180g and a 405 and 305 on my 100g

I have under gravel filters on both tanks. The output of my filters push water down the UGF uplift tube

I am going to change things a little. I am going to take the filter outlets from the UGF and have them putting water straight into the tank. On the UGF uplift tubes i am going to buy some powerheads to push the water down them

This is what i have found so far

cgi.ebay.co.uk/AQUACLEAR-70-POWER-HEAD-A...;hash=item359e78463b

I am going to need 4 so i am hoping i could get a discount on this price.

Any one got any other powerheads that could do the job but are cheaper to buy, i am looking for a similar flow rate or maybe a little higher

Im in England
I can't get no sleep

hey Dellboy... any idea what is the flowrate???...i am not sure if aquaclear 70
is rated at 70gph.... but 41.95 UK pounds is too much....don't you have an
imitation???? made in taiwan or china? my powermate 2200 cost me US$10.50
and that 2200 is the flow rate in liters per hour.

I was looking at that exact powerhead myself on the weekend, and it was £55 pound at maidenhead aquatics. Was gonna have a look if i could find it cheaper anywhere as well, or find something similar

this is what I use...
cgi.ebay.com/2-Powerhead-250-GPH-Aquariu...097d9f#ht_1746wt_896
works well for me. they also have a 350gph version.

Paul the flow rate is 1514 lts per hour (without air)

www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/product.cfm?CAT...OD_ID=01005700030101

what i liked about this powerhead is that it can be put on reverse. With my reverse UGF every 6 months or so i pull water up (instead of the usual pushing water down) the uplift tube to clear out any gunk that has settled under the UGF plate. What i dont like about the powerhead is the expense

I have found another powerhead that is much cheaper

www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/1800l-h-aquar...downpipe-4320-0.html

This is much cheaper but doesnt have the reverse facility. I am going to buy this powerhead, i can live without the reverse facililty, it is just a little hassle to set it up to pull water up the uplift tube

i am not sure what do you mean by "reverse".... if you want to suck the
water from under the UGF, just hook the suction at the stand pipe of the
UGF... if you want to do the liquefied substrate, just hook the discharge
point to the stand pipe and there you go...

this one at 1800lph is a good catch but my 2200 at UD$10.00 something
is rated at 24W, capable of delivering 2200lph at 2.4M total head

By reverse UGF, i mean the water is pushed down the UGF tube and up through the gravel

The company phoned me today to tell me the 1800 powerhead is out of stock and will be for a while so i agreed to a replacement. This replacement is slightly more expensive but they will sell to me for the same price. The replacement doesnt have the downpipes but this isnt something i am worried about
