Powerhead Question... 1 year, 7 months ago #117192

Ive been looking around online to find a good, and reasonably priced powerhead, or two for my 125 gallon oscar tank. A lot of the good, name brand powerheads can be around $70 or so...but on ebay, i found off brand powerheads, for a fraction of the price.

cgi.ebay.com/1300GPH-WAVE-MAKER-FISH-PUM...;hash=item255db89ccb

Would the cheap, off brand powerheads be as powerful, or anywhere near as good as the on-brands? I know that the one in the ad most likely wont actually be as powerful as it says, but for the price i dont want to turn it down. I just want to be sure that im not just wasting my money on some cheap piece of crap that will just break down in a few weeks, all because i wanted to be cheap.

Thanks in advance for any input on these!

I have 3 of these EXACT same wavemakers... They are awesome and do exactly as I wanted and needed them to do! Great buy in my opinion!

those wave makers seem nice. they look like they produce a lot of current. the only thing I don't think I like is that there is no option for putting air in the tank. (atleast none that I know of)

I use this one. works for me. i like the option to put air bubbles into the tank. I can adjust how much air goes in:

Excellent! Thank you guys for the input! I found a deal for 2 of the powerheads i showed in the link, for $27 with free shipping, so i HAD to get them! Im definately glad to see that other people have used them, with good results. I was hoping that the deal wasnt too good to be true! And i learned my lesson about paying full retail price on aquarium items without checking online first, cuz i bought a penguin 350 from my lfs, then got home and installed it, then found the exact same thing online for $25 less, and thats including shipping!

Thanks again for the input! It was much appreciated!
