isthere a big difference between canister filters forponds and fish tanks.

at bunnings they sold 1500l/h canisters for ponds and it included al biomedia and sponge.
thats about athird of the price of regular filters

If they are the pond pressure filters I'm thinking of they don;t have an inbuilt pump, so that's an extra cost on top of the canister.

Aus-car is right, the pond filters DO NOT have a pump built in, but in the long run, pump and canister are cheaper than an FX5!!!

one aspect is ... with a pond filter, usually noise isn't as much as an issue. You can usually find a pond canister cheaper than an aquarium filter.

I did maintenance on my 530GPH UV SUN SUN Canister today, and as I was dealing with this huge filter I realized that this filter could easily be used for an indoor pond. It just was huge...(and had a ton of crap(BB) in it). it was nice to get my flow rate back to good
