I have a canister filter. At the end of the hose that puts the water back in the tank i have a tube with holes in it. It spreads the water thats coming out of the filter the length of the aquarium. I have it slightly above the water level to put oxygen in the water. The tank is in my room and the splashing of the water coming out of the tube is loud. Is there any thing i can do to make it quieter?

Yeah, turn it off:laugh:

however, that really isn't an option. Unfortunately, a fish tank that is set up properly will always be a little bit noisy.to create oxygen in the water, you must have water disturbance. some people have air stones in their tank, this can add extra oxygen, however, I prefer to use air stones as a supplement rather than relying on them solely for oxygen.

I think it's a case of getting used to the noise. I must admit, when I turn my pump off in my room, it's lovely and quiet, I have just got used to the noise

You do not have to have the spray bar above the water. You can put it below the surface of the water. Just adjust it when it is under the surface so that it points kind of up so that it makes the surface of the water ripple quite a bit. That is all that I do for my tank and it works just fine.
Hi.

You'll know if Oscars aren't getting enough oxygen, they will start opening and closing their mouths. Hopefully adjusting the spray bars so they are disturbing the surface but not actually making a lot of noise will be okay. I've got used to the noise over the years and I don't even hear it any more

The best thing you can do really is get used to it..beacuse not only will your tank be able to run right but when something gos wrong or changes you will heard the difference.I have my fish tank in my room also and the power went out for a short time and it woke me up beacuse i could hear my filters running dry.
It does get annyoing at first and they really piss off your GF when she trys to stay over and cant sleep.

What you want is the surface of the water to be rippled (not calm) as this allows more oxygen into the tank. So adjust the height and angle of the water out of the spray bar(the tube with holes in it) so that it makes the surface of the water ripple but doesnt make noise
I can't get no sleep
