I found a Fluval FX5 filter online for $139.99 plus $29.99 shipping for a total of $169.98. It says it's for up to 400us gallons. Sounds like a good deal to me, but I don't know much about this brand. I currently have a Marineland Canister for up to 100us gallons.
Advice please! Thanks so much.

imo fluval makes excellent filters second only to eheim. they have a proven track record and the fx5 is there biggest. i know here they retail for about 399cdn so if you can get one for 169 sounds like a good deal to me.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

thats a really really good deal on an fx5. I haven't actually seen one at that price before. I can tell you right now i wouldn't own a 305 and a 405 if i found an fx that cheap.
I got the FX5, and yes they have more! I got mine on ebay.
Here is a link to the guy who sells them (and yes they are brand new sealed in the box!):
This sale ends soon, but the seller always has about 4 going at one time and they all start out at this price. I ended up getting mine for $160 plus shipping and it arrived the very next day.
Only problem is that I can't get the attachments that go on the tank and hold the hoses on my tank... I feel like I'm streching them and it might brake. I am hoping to get the same guy that came over to get my tank up and running the first time around and see if he can't get them on. I really want to start using this filter. I can't wait to see the difference it might make compared to my current filter.
