Ive always been a fan of having a go at building things myself and filtration for my tanks is no exception. I have lots of tanks for fish other than Oscars and buying filters can be expensive. Sponge filters are expensive and limited as to what sort of filtration they can provide. Sometime ago i set about designing a versatile filter for some of my tanks which was going to be inexpensive. I came up with and idea to convert plastic pop bottles into filters using some upvc toilet overflow pipe. Now im not suggesting that you use this filter for your Oscar tank but i have successfully run a tank on this filter which has approximately 35 inches of fish in a 20 gallon tank You can check out the tutorial on you tube at
