well my fluvel 404 canister filter didnt want to work today but i had a look and shaked it a bit and its working now but very noisy and not 100% as powerfull as it was. it stopped working when i did a water change and plugged it back in.

im going to go buy a fluvel 405:) tomoro and change all the media straight over. is that all i will need to do to make it work as good as my old one straight away?

yes, as long as you haven't turned your filter off on your 404, you can just swap the media over and everything will work perfectly okay

its very anoying as its really load but im not turning it off lol. at least with a 405 i will have evan better filteration:)

you can buy a new spares for the old pump. This may make a good backup for the future or a cheaper fix to your problem. Propellor costs £15 ish

i think the problems go further than that lol, it is very noisy and rattley and it is not very powerfull any more:(

im pretty sure the flow rate for the 404 and 405 are both at 340 gallons per hour.and the foam media is also interchangable. if i were you i would look at changing the impeller on your 404 this might reduce the noise it makes and also increase the flow. but if you have your heart set on a new 405 go for it.

yeah lol, i just think it will be alot better piece of mind having a new filter:)
