im thinking of in a few months after i get all my water qaulity problems straightened around of gettin 2 marineland c-360 canister filters for my 75 gallon tank i will put one on during a tank cleaning and let it run for a month and then eliminate my 2 hob and then hook up the other one and one month later eliminate my magnum 350 filter does this sound ok or should i go about it differently and these filters have media trays for bio balls, bio beads, filter foam and carbon what could i put in place of the carbon any ideas would be great or advice on the install

2 filters is the best option you could have. This way if you do mess up one or it brakes the other still works. 2 smaller is far better than 1 big. do you know how many gallons the c 360 pumps?? i am not up to date on all the kit out on sale. you could replace the carbon with foam or hard media balls, tubes, blocks of your choice and save the carbon for a rainy day incase you need it.Its far better to have 2 filters of same make as any spares are always useful. you could also use the media from the filter that is in use or add the bactria from the filters in use to your new filters when you get them. I think you are heading in right direction.

if you pick up a c360 and run it with your 350 you should more than enough filtration for your 75 gallon tank. as for your present water problem keep doing water changes every couple of days until the beneficial bacteria has a chnve to grow on the bio wheels of the hobs. unfortunetly this can take a couple weeks to happen. there are products like ammo lock which converts ammonia into a less toxic state that you can use in the mean time.

hope this helps

how much water should i change every couple of days and when i do this do i need to clean my gravel or just change water and do i need to shut the filters off when i add new water and for how long and when i do it do i need to soak the bio wheels in a buket of tank water so they dont dry out

i would change about 25-30% of the existing water every couple of days. as for the vacumming i would do it if its needed if not just change the water. as for the filters i usually dont turn them off unless there is a chance that they may run dry. just remember to add the declorinator before adding the fresh water

if you fill your buckets with water at the same temp as the water in the tank just add the declorinator and add it to the tank. when i used buckets to fill my tank(the 55 gallon) i use to add the declorinator to each bucket individually however i have heard that you can just add the declorinator to the tank and fill then add the buckets of water.
