my bio wheels stopped spining or spin verey slow and kinda jerky i cleaned the filter and the wheel in a bucket of tank water and inspected the wheel all is good the covers arent stopping it is this bad will this affect my tank or is it ok

as long as the media on the wheel doent dry out you should be alright. i have a penguin on my daughters community tank and i found that if the water level is even a little low the wheel doesnt spin properly.

ok hopefuly it will be ok the water level is fine i hate these filters i need to just spend the money and get a good filter my problem is a vailability where i live i can easily buy marineland c360, fluval 405 and rena filstar , but the only one i can get parts very easily is the marineland c series , do you no anything about it no one seems to

I have read a lot of complains about bio-wheels stop runnin. When it's clogged or blocked or when water level isn't within range they stop working, otherwise... I guess some defective ones get into the market anyhow.

Have you tried contacting their customer service department? At least technology wise bio-wheel filters design seemed a good idea... Nevertheless I love AquaClear when it comes to HOBs despite its old-tech design.

Hope you take it easy and learn to "enjoy" setbacks like these ones (I'm not being sarcastic), we end up learning a lot, in the long run at least, and if you find a solution, sharing it will help others too. Part of the game I guess.

you need the water running through the bio media to create oxygen. Nitrifying bacteria need oxygen to survive, therefore, you cannot just rely on them being submerged under water to keep them alive. This is why when people turn off their filters for too long, even though the media may stay wet, all the bacteria die of oxygen starvation.

i took it apart and cleaned the sides of the wheel and the little purple saddles it sits in the 200 spins great now and the 150 spins aslowly but its moving thankyou for the advice everyone
