ok im gunna sve up and get a fluval 205 to run with my existing magnum 350 and then later replace the 350 with a fluval 405 what media can i replace the carbon with in the fluvals as i dont want to use carbon in them

I've never used one of these filters but I think you can replace the carbon with biological media

i replaced mine with simple sponge...
have you looked on ebay, theres some cheap fluvalsB)

i just went to soutern aqautics, there closing down in christchurch<dorset>
brought another tetratec 1000 internal for £12:woohoo:

2.5ft breeding tank, pair of bristlenose plecs,100s of fry

so you just put sponge in the carbi=on tray what kind of sponge did you use and yes ive seen them on ebay buyen through ebay makes me nervous tho lol

ive bought a few things off ebay. the latest was the 2 submersible pumps for my sump and i found that if you deal with a seller that has a high rating the product they deliver is what they advertise. also if you use paypal they have a safe guard system for smaller purchases.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

just so happens i got brought lots of sponges for my fluval fx5,,,
go to any fish shop and see if they have pond filter sponges<usually large,,,,,then cut them down to size, you do not need to buy actual fluval sponges,,,,

In my Fluval 405 I have it set up this way Bottom tray to Top ... Polishing Pads, Pre-Filter, bio-max, and bio-max.
