Well that sounds good there an air pump how big is it and will it help for the filtration or for oxgyen? If you want a good filter for that tank I would use a 100gallon power bio filter a Penguin would work the best and they are one of a kind that do the job and actually more than what it should do honestly to tell you the truth... Always go for a larger size filter and pump especially for Oscars and its better that way too because Oscars are ONE BIG POOPER MACHINES! if they are the adult size you'll find out soon...if the baby then nothing to worry yet.

But all in all go for a larger one up size for a filter and air pump just for me that works better and some may or may not agree but they are best for that being bigger for a smaller tank. Also if just an air pump do it for a 100 gallon or a wet/dry pump they work just as well from what I've heard check out the page for that and it will give you all what you need for that part for you tank and happy Oscar keeping!

You might consider using the air pump to drive a sponge filter. It doesn't take anything away from the air pump, but it gives you a sponge filter that's seeded with beneficial bacteria--a great thing to have if you ever have a prolonged power outage (you can drive it with a battery-operated air pump while the power is out).

Sponge filters aren't the pretties things in the tank, but if you're crafty you can hide it amongst the decor.

What ever you decide to use put an anti siphon valve in the air line. This will prevent back siphoning if your power goes off. you don't want you tank water all over your floor.silicon hose is nice to run and easy to hide but you will still need something to weight the hose down. a long stone looks nicer than a small one if you decide to go than way. your fish will dig it up so some rocks will help with hiding hose.

i use a variety of different types of aerators in my tanks. in my oscar tank i use a bubble wall that runs about 2 feet in lenght along one end of the tank. in my african tank i use an airstone that i placed under some rocks. the air bubble up and around the rocks. i think it looks nice. like marcus said be sure to use a check valve to prevent the water from syphoning out if the power to the air pump is stopped.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Yeah I forgot to mention those to you earlier about the Air Stones and foam filters but you know now and all. In my big tank that I yet to take a picture of for all of you I have a disc stone for bubbles and a long air stone that about 6inches long so still you know what you need and good luck

I have a long airstone hooked up to my pump
I have one for all three tanks
I also buried my airstones under the gravel
I think that makes for a very cool effect
Although 2PaC loves to dig up the airstone
the other 2 leave it alone.......
pooper machines...LoL I just love that
