mag floats are ok for normal algae (my plec takes care of this- i know they are not recommended but they are slow growing and my tank is big enough i hope)

But i do get some algae that the plec dont eat and it is a cow to get off the glass. I have tried a scrubby to removed it and it takes ages. The best thing to remove algae(stubborn or otherwise) is a Tetratec aquarium glass scraper. Mine is the GS45 model. It like a razor blade on a stick. It removes all algae in seconds. You do need to be careful as it has exposed sharp edges that could cut an inquisitive fish
I can't get no sleep
