cloudy water is usually a sign of ammonia. did you test for ammonia? what were the test results. did you treat the new water with a chlorine remover, heat new water and are your fish acting OK.?

If everything is fine and there are no other problems you could try adding a clear water treatment. most shops sell them. they grab the small particles in the water and bond them together so they get caught in your filter. I would only add one of these if you are sure its not any other problem so I would retest water first to make sure. or you could just wait to see if it clears.

is your filter a suitable size for your tank? and you can buy polishing pads for most filters that fine clean small particals.

i just want to check, in addition with marcus & joedodge,
did you cleaned the filtering system too? this is the common
mistake in aquarium maintenance..... when you change the water,
and clean the tank, it is not advisable to clean the filtering
system simultaneously. if you do so, there is a big probability
that good bacteria will be lessen or totally gone. it will take time
before the filtering system will be colonized again with bacteria that
process the nitrite and ammonia, resulting into cloudy water.

i appreciate the info...i tried the water clarifier with not much luck and my ammonia levels are fine...it shouldnt be an issue of overcrowding because i have 2-2inch oscars and a 2 inch pleco in a 65 gallon....however i did clean the filter about 2 water changes ago and may have wiped out my good bacteria, so ill just wait and see if it'll clear up

if you have messed up your cycle you will have ammonia, or nitrites on your tests.
