hello guys i would like to know if you wouldnt mind the general temperatures of your oscar set ups as there seems to be big differences in this area from fishkeeper to fishkeeper ?????i keep mine at a constant 80.1/4 thanks to all the results should make interesting reading

I keep my tank at 76 degrees.

in tropical country like mine, we never consider tank
tempearture. we do not even put thermometer in the tank.
but basically, our tank remain at room temparature, between
27 to 30 degress celcius.

but one thing you should consider, in the wild, oscar survived
in extremities, icing cold water or murky drying river. if not
they would be extinct by now.

My tanks are kept at a constant 80F and everything in them seems to thrive at that temp. I have a hospital tank that I do keep a couple of degrees warmer as this seems to help if I encounter problems.

I keep mine at 79F during the winter.

Looks like in need to bump my temp up a couple degrees Im only at 76f

i thought this thread may be usefull ......but if your fish are happy at that temp i would leave them there ...but if you do decide to increase it dont do it quickly in one go take it up a couple degrees a time over a period of about 10-14 days or even double that if you have the paitience ..."SLOWLY SLOWLY CATCHY MONKEY"

Yeah, a higher temp of around 80F and regular water changes help encourage breeding. It will also raise aggression as well.
