TOPIC: Type of Filtration System

Type of Filtration System 3 years, 4 months ago #19652

I have read the entire manual, and nowhere does it list the cycles or anything like that. I can tell you, however, that the filtration system is a Tetra FS, and it the 30-60 model. BTW everyone..... Theres no need to remove the goldfish from the tank. I went jogging this morning, and when I returned, they were all in the "upper room (upper intestional tract... lol)" except one. He seems like a regular fish except for the fact that he seems to have a beef with the thermometer; he keeps hitting and ramming it. Also, he does the same to his reflection. I guess that is his aggressiveness, right?

As far as i can find tetra do 3 sizes Ex600-700-1200. the EX1200 pumps 200-500litres per hour. If you have this filter then you should be OK. Is the filter inside the tank or is it an external filter (outside).?

I moved this post to filtration as it will receive the best input here.

im pleased to hear that your oscar is starting to recover from his ordeal. his attitude towards his thermometer is typical oscar behaviour. if he continues with his aggressiveness towards it however i would consider removing it to avoid and breakage that may occur.

the tetra whisper advance pf 30-60 is a hob style filter that is superb in small community tanks with tropical fish. for a young oscar it is acceptable for filtration but for a mature oscar it may not be up to the huge bio load that is produced.

but since you are thinking of upgrading his small tank to one more suitable you should also think about upgrading the filtration as well. assuming you do get a 55-75 gallon tank for him you should also look to a canister filter to go with it. on a tank of 55-75 gallons i would recommend a fluval 405 or similar sized filter like the eheim 2217 or rena xp2. this should be adequate filtration for the life of your oscar
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
