Any media from an established "Cycled" tank will help with the Nitrogen Cycle of your new tank. Substrate, Plants, decorations, and current filter media from your current tank will all assist in this. But they also need oxygen to stay alive.
If you do this you wil need to remove all metals and chlorine from the water and make sure that it is well supplied with disolvable oxygen. A few gallons or what ever you can spare from your current tank won't hurt either.
But doing all this doesn't make your new tank cycled. You must check daily with a dependable testing kit to make sure your water parameters get to and stay within the recommended levels.
Heres my Ten cents my Two cents are free

i suggest you get some water from the established tank
as seeding water in the new tank. (as if you are changing
water in the existing), with some new water, transfer the
spare filtering pump and run immediately to avoid lost of
good bacteria, fill the tank equivalent to the seeding water,
after 2 hours, test the water, if parameters is okey, transfer
the fishes. then gradually fill the tank to the desired level.

FX5 is one among top of the line in filtering
but it is quite expensive. i made my own version
using power head adapted to a DIY caniter(used
mineral water container)

once your water give ammonia=0; nitrite=0; & nitrate
10-20, you can put your fishes in it already.

Glad to hear that. I am not a very patient person. I moved Ben ( wish I would of read the artical about moving oscars first i got soaked) over to the new tank also got him a new friend. they had it tagged as a albino tiger but i think it an albino red if there is such a thing. They are getting along like old friends.will post picture later today..

i don't see anything wrong in your oscar. that pin holes are normal for oscars and other fishes if your are referring to the two hole on both sides of the nose.
