TOPIC: Cascade Power Filter

Cascade Power Filter 3 years, 3 months ago #21596

Just bought a used tank off Kijiji and it came with a hang on power filter. It's a Cascade but I'm not sure what filters to get and it doesn't say anywhere on it. It measures 11.5" across and 8" high, and has the bio falls. Does anybody know what one this is?

It looks just like this one, but I want to make sure I know the right size so I can maybe look into buying the filter media for it. It's for a 90gal tank, but I'm not sure if it was actually used for that tank.

No I don't, that's what I'm trying to find out. It's a Penn-Plax Cascade "something". I only found that out by searching the internet until I found one that looked like mine. Mine has nothing on it to tell me the GPH or what filters to replace with or anything, just seeing if someone might have the same one, with the same measurements

what you need to do is find somewhere that sells these type of filters. I think you also need to know exactly what type of filter you have got. A lot of these hob filters come in various sizes. Now they don't sell them over here in the UK but I would imagine that mechanical filtration will be a slightly different size on the different models.

I copied the following information off a site that had one similar to yours

Cascade 200 Power Filter

The Cascade Hang-On Power filter 150 pumps 150 gph and offers QUAD filtration with silent and efficient operation. The self-priming intake tube has a built-in extendable stem to allow placement of the intake strainer close to the bottom of most aquariums. Includes an adjustable flow control knob to reduce filtration during feeding times. The QUAD filtration consists of a first stage mechanical polyfilter pad with a built in second stage of activated carbon for chemical filtration to remove toxins, odors and discolorations. Next is a third stage biofiltration internal sponge to remove ammonia and nitrite. The last stage is a unique Bio-Falls system placed in the water return spout to provide additional surface area for the nitrifying bacteria of the bio-filtration. Features a leveling devise attachment to properly position the filter and keep it stable on your aquarium.

Isn't there any indication of what model it is on the actual filter?

Only thing on it is a couple warning stickers on the motor. Checked everywhere else inside and out.
