I have just gotten my water test kit and I need to know what the water peramiters are. Thank You.

you need to test for:Ammonia and Nitrite these 2 should both be 0 the other is Nitrate this can be ok up to a reading of 50ppm

Thats good then obviously with the Nitrate the closer to 0 you can get the better

your nitrate should not go higher that 20ppm. 20ppm is giving
you a signal to do 25% water change. if 30ppm, do 30% water change
and so on. 10 ppm is ideal, 20ppm is tolerable, 30ppm w/c is
a must.

in a healthy aquarium, just before you do a schedualed water change, your nitrate reading should be around the forty mark. if you have a sick or damaged oscar in your tank, the lower the nitrates the better for healing. in the latter case i would recoommend doing water change when the nitrate reading gets to 20.
