Whats the best media to use in a fluvel 405. The tanks 300L with 1 baby oscar. Iam using the basic media that was suppled with the filter, just wondered if there was any other media that would be good for a growing baby oscar.

What media are you using? I would recommend sponge for mechanical filtration and ceramic type media for your bio filtration. Check these links out.

I have some 404's, a 204 and 405's running. When it comes to the media in the trays dont bother with the carbon you get supplied when you buy it. Fill the trays up with any standard media. If really dont matter as long as is it inert(dont react to anything). So you can use the hollow tubes, the small little rocks things or the small rocks that look like little sponges. The important thing is that whatever you use has a large surface for its size
