Hi guys i went out and ordered a new tank got it in about 3 days ago and this thing is huge maybe to big its a 265 US gallon it messures :
Width: 84" (213.36cm)
Height: 30" (76.2cm)
Depth: 24" (60.96cm)
i really like it but it took forever to fill up and get warm enought to put any fish in i had to use the outside hose. i had 4 heaters in there with a heating light lol. my oscars seem really happy that they can swim as fast as they want. all thats in there at this time is 2 oscars, 3 clown loaches, and 1 chinese algy eater all the fish are under 4 inches so it looks kinda funny. i still have all the heaters in there and the heat lamp on it the water temp is 76 degrees. i want it to be at least 78. i got it here www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2 heres a pic u can see a black dot in the middle of the tank its one of my oscars it looks really funny when in person.

heres a pic though.
i put a circle around the oscar its 4 inches long just so u can see how big the tank is

hey josh, you've got a huge tank over there..... its good the set up
is high, otherwise, all toys and shoes of your boy will be in there.
the 84 x 30 x 24 gives you 257 US gal or 220 IMP gal tank. for now,
yes, it is big for your oscars.... but in 2 to 3 months, you will
be surprised how big your oscars are.

yea its a really big tank but i love it. it does look alittle funny seeing the oscars being so small in there. im thinking on buying a baby arowana fish from my lfs i saw them the other day and seem pritty neat. They said they should get along fine and since both fish are young they should try eating eachother and will grow to know each other. I really think the 2 oscars i have are paired up because they wont leave each others side and they always do this kissing thing but it looks like there jaws are locked on each other. I bought some baby gold fish and the oscars love them first time they had them was the other day. but the tank seems so big that the gold fish are out swimming the oscars, i saw the oscars get some when i feed pellets and the gold fish went after them and then the oscars swam up from under them and then attacked them they literly justed out of the water kinda like a great white attacking a seal. wish i got a pic of it but it was alsome looking. but thanks on the comment i still have my 120 gallon up just need fish in it lol.

well yea i agree im happy if they are happy. just alot of heaters 2 huge hang over filters. and that heat light. and having to use a hose iant fun just because the water being so cold when it comes from there. I have well water and its was just hooked up to a water main out side. i need to get a water heater just for the tank so i can just hook right to that and get nice warm water. i think that will be my prject for the day find a way to get water warm but as cheap as possable.

lol yea i just to make for sure that there confortable in there. i hate seeing tanks thats over populated makes me sick. i just know thatthe fish i have will get big so thats why i have so few in there. Once i get the set up conplete ill send a new pic i plain on putting a 20 gallon long under the stand just for gold fish. and ill have my 120 right beside my new tank but on a different wall. and i have a 55 still to set up. this part of the new house is just a fish room. Its a really big house ust for me and my boy its a 3500 sq foot home. with 5 bedroom 3 full bath rooms. so one room will just be a fish room. should i put in a few more fish?
2 oscars
3 clown loaches
1 chinese algy eater
Soon 1 arowana
is that enought or should i get more? i was thinking on some convicts but dont know yet

im not sure it will be big enough for an aro but i could be wrong. as for more fish cons are nice but be sure not to get a breeding pair as they will wreak havoc on any tankmates with them. for other fish to get the list is long so what it comes down to is your personal choice on what you like. there is a species list in the cichlid section of the forum that may help you decide. and as always if you have any questions on compatibility all you have to do is ask and im sure someone will chime in with there opinion.

good luck with your new tank.

i have a thick book just about cichlids my ph is quit high so africans would be ok in the tank. but i heard aftrican cichlids and south american cichlids will fight is this the truth? and if so should i just stay to south american cichlids. i was really thinking on just going fishing and catching a large mouth bass or small mouth and put him into a differet tank to clean him up and then put him in my big tank but idk yet. my lfs said my tank and what fish i do have is plenty for aarowana they are really kinda cool in my eyes. look at this web page this fish was gonna be sold for $80,000 US dollors
www.myfishtank.net/fish-news/80000-arowana-aquarium-fish/
but anyways talk to u later

this caption is posted by anonymous in one thread here. this may
help you grasp the idea on arowana.....

anonymous wrote
Arowana are, for the most part, peaceful fish. When multiple arowana are put in a tank together they are usually fine, but many people dont realize how much space thay need. So two arowana in a 200 GAL aquarium dont have enough room.

A general rule-of-thumb is 120 GAL for 1 arowana and 100 more for every fish after that up to 5 when filtration limitations may apply. Tank layout also affect how many arowana you can put in your tank. EX: I could put 1 arowana in a regular rectangular 120 GAL, but I could put quite a few in a tank that was 1 foot deep 6 feet wide and six feet long. Arowana are mostly surface fish and usually disregard anything below them.
