30in height is no big deal. Pretty sure I'm older and smaller in stature than most of you lads, I get to the bottom and all corners of mine no problem. Standard 265 gets my vote.

Thanks, Dave. I'll be checking prices soon. My 150 is 25" height. What's 5 more inches, right?

For me its the gravel vac tube that is an issue. I went with a longer python and it gets heavy after a while with your arms at a funny angle....

The python also uses a heavy gauge of clear plastic than some other brands.

This popped up as a banner ad, so I clicked on it. Anyone ever heard of these guys?

www.customaquariums.com/c-4-lifetime-aquariums.aspx

Free delivery? Wow. And they include suction cups for moving that you can return for a refund.

Could not find any warranty info.

Aluminum frames!

Looks to be a new company. The website appears to be unfinished.

Edit: I just asked them for a quote on an 84x30x24 with glass lids and the ultra clear glass on the front panel. No stand or plumbing. Let's see what they say.

Just my opinion on the ultra clear glass. Its a low iron content, slightly noticeable with tank empty, I see no dif with water in. I have 1, its a good tank, I bought used so the original owner absorbed the extra cost . I wouldn't pay extra for it in a new purchase.

They are called "Lifetime Aquariums" so hopefully it is a lifetime guarantee. Keep us posted on the costs, etc.

The one I have with the Starphire front panel is from Miracles in Toronto. You prob heard of them when you were in Hamilton Ben? Good quality tanks.

Got the quote back today:

$1704 with three glass lids, starphire front glass, and curbside delivery.

Their warranty is lifetime, if you use their stands. If you don't , no warranty. I would not be using their stands, so that part sucks. The salesperson assured me, however, that "we will stand behind our products if something were to happen that is obviously a manufacturing defect we will stand behind it!!" So there you go. The more I look into it, the more I think these tank warranties aren't all that great anyway. All any of them cover is replacement of the tank, should it fail, and every one I've ever seen requires you to ship the failed tank back to the manufacturer, LOL. If you have 260 gallons of water flood your house, replacement of the tank is going to be the least of your worries. I'm thinking of contacting my insurance company and see about getting some additional coverage for aquariums and water damage.

After doing research, I've discovered several "nightmare" threads of large Perfecto/Marineland tanks failing at the seams. I have no illusions that large manufacturers such as Perfecto/Marineland make their tanks to any higher standard than smaller, custom shops like Glasscages or Custom Aquariums. In fact, I suspect the exact opposite.

I'll keep this thread updated as I continue towards my final result. Next step is to contact Glasscages for a quote on the exact same tank, either delivered to a drop point 100 miles from my house, or curbside.

I will also contact a LFS and see what they can do about ordering me a standard Perfecto/Marineland 265 gallon.
