Oh i figured it could he true just that i never heard of it lol anything is possible silicate based sand can increase the chances of it. I think doug or jmunroe had that problem. Cant remember

Back to the substrate looks like it brightened up some of the fish dory looks much brighter hulk a little bit but no changge to anyone else

Ive used the fine sands before but just have not liked them, thats why my preference has been a larger grained sand. The finer, lighter colored stuff seemed to have a tendency as mention to get like an algae crust going.

I do like the lighter colored substrates in general. Ive just been looking for something just not so bright looking. I wish I could capture the look in a picture but when I compare my two tanks with Lapis Lustre and Peace River they pretty much look identical in pictures but close up the Peace river is just slightly darker, which I like. But what Im trying to find is a step darker than peace river....

Im gonna take a look at the peace river too.... before I end up waisting hours cleaning this stuff im gonna get peace river, pfs, and the gold sunset and set it up in the 20 gal just to see. I am just tired of gravel vac. the 55 always had sand in it and what a breeze to clean... also feel like the sand is a cleaner look over gravel.

I think we both have a touch of ocd
