I'm going to pick up my Filstar M. What type of media should I fill it with?? I have filter floss and biological media from my C4 and AC70 including a purigen bag. What else should I add??

Biological filtration is the most important media, so plenty of that. I believe that purigen will need changing after a few months so don't remember to do that. It's always best to have some decent mechanical filtration that will catch all the solid debris, if you don't have it then you will be constantly having to clean the biological media

A 2 tray filter, so run the 2 sponges it comes with in the bottom, ceramics on top of the divider you get with it. 2nd tray full of ceramics. Your choice to use the fine pad on top, but this item will need the most attention as it gets dirty the quickest

@OFL I plan on keeping the AC70 and C4 running, I was just going to take the ceramics out of them and put them into the canister. Currently my C4 holds my pothos, so it's not going anywhere.

@Suprd do you think filter floss would be better than the pad it comes with?

Both have the same function Jen, to catch finer particles. The pads you get with it will last longer though. I get a couple years from them before they fall apart. That's with a 3-4x yearly cleaning. If you are going to run the 2 hobs in conjunction, I wouldn't worry about transferring media. Let the xp run on its own for about 3-4 months, then pop it open and see what kinda shape everything is in. This will give you a gauge on how often you need to clean it
