LeafsFan created the topic: Little bit nervous

Hey everyone I'm pretty sure this isn't too good. I just want opinions on how urgent this is to fix. When I got my 100 gallon a guy who lives near me who is a carpenter built my stand. I'm not sure if it settled into the carpet with the weight or if it was a little bit off to begin with. I honestly can't remember if I checked before putting the tank on it but recently I noticed it's not completely level. Not really bad but still. I guess I should have checked when I got the stand if I didn't. Either way it was stupid on my part and what's done is done. I hate the thought of disturbing and stressing my Oscar to take him out of his tank to fix the stand. Is it dangerous to have my stand a little bit crooked?

-Is it only off from front to back?

-Is it the same on the other end?

-Approx how much is it off 1/4" or less?

Yeah it's only front to back and it's about 1/4 of an inch maybe a little less and yes both end are the same.

Have you had a good look inside the cabinet? Make sure nothing looks like it's coming apart. If something is going to go wrong terribly, then you're probably find it will do it gradually. Fingers crossed,

I've actually thought of that too. One thing he did that was wasn't to impressed with was he used nails instead of screw nails

nails work as well as screws

Your floor could be off as well. I would get some help, drain the tank (you dont have to remove the gravel), and add shims the back of the tank.

Yeah the thought of the tank letting go scares me lol I'm just in the middle of a big water change right now but I got no one to give me a lift with it so I might tackle it on the weekend even a couple of shingles or something to slide in under it. I thought about trying to tank the stand apart it bit and straighten it out but that could go even more wrong in the end.

The stand could be straight and level to begin with. Part of the problem maybe that the glass panes were not siliconed completely even (off by 1-2 cm) on one side, and then with the addition of the plastic framing it looks more uneven than it really is.

If I'm looking at the pic right the shims need to go in the front. Drain it down completely make sure you use plastic or composite shims and shim it across the front with a shim every 3"-4" closer is always better. The more points of contact you make between the stand and the floor the better.

Have you put the level on the floor yet?
