Okay great thank you guys so much for everything I really appreciate every bit of shared information. I can't listen to a word LFS employees say. Most of them are highly uneducated in aquatics.. But its great to have highly experienced Oscar owners along with guys that are very experienced in general that don't have Oscars. I listen to you guys because of this. I take what LFS employees say with a grain of salt.. haha As far as what you just said Bri, What about the polishing pads and biofoam..? Did you leave them or replace them with biological media as well?? I was indecisive about removing those. I'm glad you have a 306 as well and are pro biological filtration because I don't know what all I should replace with BIOMAX.

The pads and sponges can stay just replace the carbon with biomax and you will get the most out of your 306.

I've always replaced the biofoam with biomax. And never been a fan of polishing pads either, but its all preference.

piece of advise based on experience:
fiber wool became more efficient in catching suspended particles as it ages...
however, it requires washing from time to time to remove some gunk..
no need to replacing it. my fiber wool had been there for more than 4 years now.

The pads and foam won't hurt but the more ceramic media=more area for bb to thrive.
