Because betta Are often found in small pockets of water, people often assume that they can be kept in tiny little reciprocals, which people often do. However, I was looking into getting one myself so did a bit of research. I think the recommended tank size for one is around 10 gallons, and basically just filtrate it like you would any other aquarium.

The only important thing to remember is you cannot keep 2 males together because they will kill each other

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

i've been reading about them and they seem like pretty easy fish to take care of i'm just kind of worried that the filter will have to much flow because they don't seem like the best swimmers

I keep my bettas in 2.5 - 10 gallon tanks with a gentle sponge filter. I use this one for 2.5 tanks.

They will jump out, so be sure to keep a lid without gaps that they can fit through. They also need the humid layer on the water's surface for their labyrinth organ, so again, a lid is very important. The biggest mistake people make with bettas is overfeeding. I feed my bettas three betta pellets a day. I keep the temperature around 78ºF. They do well in soft water.
