I have a fish buddy that has been running one of those over 20yrs, its a solid unit. Just way under powered for a 150 Oscar tank. About your tank.. 4 or 5ft wide? Footprint is often more important than volume, especially with large, territorial cichlids.

It's 5 foot long, 3 foot wide. someone actually gave me this entire setup. I literally only have water, time, and electricity invested, so I can def afford some upgrades to make it all run good. Even the oscars, my sons grandma bought em for him as a gift.

Looking at the tank pic from your intro thread, it looks to be very tall. 5x2x2 is 150g. If you have 5x3x? you have way more than 150g. Curious as to the exact dimensions and volume. Need to determine final filtration requirements.
