i purchased the current orbit marine from a friend for a really good price but i have no idea how a light on a tank i supposed to work do i always leave it on? theres a white light and a blue light do i keepwhite during day blue at night?
there are stting on it to come on at 8am have a sunrise daylight sunset moonlight and shut off at 6pmshould i use one of those?

You got to remember that you have nocturnal and diurnal fish. You really should try replicate the conditions that these fish would prefer in the wild. Fish do sleep so it's important that you do give them a few hours of dark in the tank. You're not going to find 24-hour sunlight anywhere in the wild so I would probably suggest leaving your tank lights on for no longer than 10 or 11 hours in a period of 24 hours. Some people do leave a blue lights on all night speakers it looks nice. It may look nice to you, but the fish will probably prefer to be in the dark.

Okay thank u somuch im not sure what diurnal is , i had the lights off the whole night last night so ill try my best to mimic their naturalenviorment, Is there anything wrong with the light i have? my friend said it is designed for saltwater but it would work in freshwater should i have any concerns with that?

basically, tank lighting is more of the keeper's pleasure....
if your tank can have lights inside the house, that would already be fine
while the light in the tank itself is more for watching the fish....

saltwater tank is no different from fresh water tank.... no worry about it
design will work on both
