Hi,

I'm upgrading my community tank this week.

I can pick up a tank with pretty stange dimensions.

90cm long-65cm wide-69cm high.

It's a bar type tank with one frontcorner of 45 dgrs.

I'm using a 600Liter canister-filter for my 60Liter tank(...)

My new tank is app. 300Liter.

I want to know if I can put new water in the new tank, dechlor and bacteria in there, and switch the filter. And move the fish!!!

The cappacity is no problem, but i need to know if the tank has to be cycled as well, or is it just the filter.

Please, any comments?

when you cycle a tank it is to establish a colony of beneficial bacteria in your filter to convert toxins like ammonia and nitrites into less harmfull ones nitrates. although some bb live on the substrate and decorations in your tank most live in the filter.

so if you tranfer an established filter to a new tank you can add your fish to it immediatly and nothing bad should happen to them. i would recommend taking water test to ensure that your water stays in good condition but other than that you should be fine.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

OK, still have to get the new tank tomorrownight and see how to decorate.
Since it a bar-type-tank you will be able to see 3 sides, so thats a new challege.
I'll keep close watch on my waterparameters.
Thanx!
