I have a 150 gallon tank that has different 3' lights in the tank. When we were in a shop a few weeks ago they had one tank that had a "redish" light that made the colors on the Tiger and Red really pop! What type of light should I get that will bring out the colors, but doesnt encourage algae growth? There aren't any live plants in the tank. Since I live in the "middle of nowhere" in Oregon, USA (we only have a lame Petco in town) I would have to get them from somewhere that ships. Ideas please.....

in the lighting system, the incandescent bulbs gives the best
natural color retention of the objects. while in the fluorescent
kind or compact type, the warm white do, followed by the daylight
type.

lately, i am conducting experiment in the algae issue. one of my
tank, the 110 gal is totally exposed to sunlight and was hit by
green algae. i had come across in one article that the effectiveness
of your filtering system will depends on the volume or lateral
surface area of media that come in contact with the running water
being filtered. i had increase the filtering media by 10X without
affecting the flow rate of the pump. from thereon, my water remains
crystal clear and no amount of sunlight could start green algae.
