I have no experience with Fluidized Bed Filters (FBF)

I've been reading on the benefits of FBF as to enhance/complement biological filtration for both freshwater and saltwater settings. I happen to have two Resun FBF-1000 (never used) that I got at good discount price. Thing is they came with no box, no manuals.

Limited info I've found is that this model is rated for 500 to 1,000 L (110 to 220 UKgal) tanks.

Wonder what would be the ideal flow range for this filters since I´ve come across somewhat conflicting information (e.g. low versus high flow).

I though about combining a Canister (e.g. Fluval 405 or Magnum HOT 350) arranged in a way that mechanical and chemical filtration occurs in the Canister and the biological in the FBF, the lack of info on the ideal or proper flow range confuses me a bit.

Thanks

after reviewing the link, i am not so convince about the principle.
sump pump work far more effective that the FBF. i would prefer
creating additional canister to increase the volume of the media
in the system, thus making the water in tip top condition

the one the thing i remember about fbf filters is that its easier to get the proper flow with a variable speed pump. it has to flow enough to suspend or swirl the sand but not enough to push it back into the tank.

but unless your restricted in space a sump would be better still for bio media area.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all
